The Lebanese Rugby League Federation has confirmed its international committee as part of its restructuring. Administrative board member Karl Bistany will chair the IC, supported by LRLF vice-president Ramy Aoun, fellow board members Mikhael Shammas and Remond Safi, and Sam Ayache, who will be the federation’s principal liaison in Australia along with Criag Melick as the International Committee.
“It is imperative that as a nation we continue to thrive and capitalise on the success that our squad had in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup,” said Ayache, who has previously worked with NRL clubs in various capacities. “We need to ensure that the next generation of players are provided the opportunity to develop and continue the legacy created by our world cup squad.
The IC is responsible for the LRLF’s international relations and making recommendations to the board on all areas of international rugby, including appointment of technical staff and the calendar. The IC has already made a series of recommendations to the administrative board: that every Cedars squad will contain local players, that Lebanon will play Fiji in June, that Lebanon will bid to host the 2020 MEA Championship, and selected a preferred applicant for the vacant head coach position.
