Tuesday, 23 February 2021, the LRLF member-clubs held a virtual meeting, chaired by Mr. Nayef Abi Said [LRLF CEO]. The core purpose was to provide a collaborative forum to discuss the upcoming season’s activities and challenges, including club’s preparations as well as Rules & Regulations.
In addition, player pathways toward the Rugby League World Cup 2021 in England were transparently communicated, and a reaffirmation of the LRLF 2019-2023 Strategy was made. These included that a minimum of six (6) domestic players will represent the Republic of Lebanon within the Cedars National Team.
Ziad Agha [Wolves RLFC: General Manager] said, “I feel like the meeting was a positive one, be it the first step into LRLF reemerging into the light after over a year-long absence due to the global pandemic that has devastated us all. I am excited to be working towards better change with the federation as GM of Wolves RLFC, and I'm hoping for a positive reaction and collaboration from all our domestic players. It is an important year for Lebanon, given our participation in the 2021 RLWC in England, so we need to get our local players ready to best represent our country.”
