The Battle of The Wolves, ACT II.
The rescheduled Lebanon Rugby League: 2021 Grand Final will feature the Wolves RLFC vs. Grey Wolves RLFC (aka: Lycans) face-off for the first time in a National Championship Final. The match fixture will kick off at 8:45pm tomorrow, Thursday, 21 October 2021 at Nejmeh Field in Beirut.
Due to last week’s heartbreaking civil unrest that resulted in the death of seven people and more than thirty injured, the grand final had to be postponed.
Neither side have won the National Title before, so both will be hungry to raise the silverware and etch their names into the pages of Lebanese Rugby League history.
Wolves Player-Manager, Ziad Agha commented, “I'm surprised but glad we finally reached this season's Grand Final, having started our season back in July and with all the chaos Lebanon has been going through it felt impossible to finish the season. Especially after last week, events resembling past civil wars, on the day of the final that forced us to postpone the game last minute. The game is now finally here, the team is very excited about it, and I'm sure the other team is as well. For the spectators coming to watch I can promise a thrilling game, as I’m sure both teams will be giving their all to win the gold.”
“Last week was a sad week for Lebanon and Rugby League. Watching the news and postponing the grand final was hard on the boys and the Lebanese people.” Khalil Azar: Grey Wolves Manager. “Now that the tension is decreasing and the game is back on we are all grateful and switching back into game plan mode. We are ready to give the audience an unforgettable experience, a positive image about Lebanon and hoping to bring the cup back home.”
Last time these two sides met, in Round 2 of the season’s Premiership, the Wolves won 18–1.
“The wolf on the hill is never as hungry as the wolf climbing the hill.” Added Agha. “And believe me these Wolves have been climbing the whole way for the win.”
Lebanese-American Referee, Nadeem Moughnieh, will Officiate the Grand Final, assisted by Hadi Rafei & Yehya Mattar as Touch-Judges, Mia Kesserwani & Yasser Helou as the Fourth Official, and Wissam Chami as Game Commissioner.
