Matt King has officially joined the Lebanon National team’s technical staff, led by Michael Cheika. The Sydney Rooster assistant coach will take a similar the role with the Cedars. King attended the second Cedars meeting for players & coaches, alongside Cheika.
“I remember clearly the passion that Lebanon played with during the last World Cup.” King said. “Rugby League is always played in the right way when a group of players have a deep love for the jumper they’re wearing. Lebanon display this love every time they play.”
“The chance to work with Michael is a once in a life time opportunity and one that I’m very grateful for. Working closely with him and the players to build a style of Rugby League that the Lebanon fans can be proud of is a job that I take very seriously and one that I’m very excited for.”
The former Australia International won the 2009 and 2010 Challenge Cups with Warrington Wolves. Following retirement from his playing career at the end of the 2013 NRL season, King embarked upon his coaching career with the South Sydney Rabbitohs; contributing to the club winning the 2014 NRL Premiership. Later, King accepted an offer to join the Sydney roosters coaching staff in 2017.
