Join the World Lebanese Cultural Union as we explore culture through sport. Ahead of the Rugby League World Cup in October 2021, we have been granted the pleasure to interview Michael Cheika and Brad Fittler, coaches of Lebanese Cedars.
Half of the event's proceeds will support the Lebanese Rugby League team in Australia.

Michael Cheika
Starting as a junior in the Randwick Rugby Club, Michael rose to represent the sport through a multitude of coaching roles for initially coaching Padova (Italy) in 1999. He coached all over the world until 2012 where he was appointed the head coach of the New South Wales Waratahs.In 2014, Michael was announced as the National Coach for of the Wallabies. Within one year, Michael gained the ultimate recognition as the World Rugby Coach of the Year.
Brad Fittler
Over 16 seasons, Brad Fittler set a standard for longevity and durability that few rugby league players could match having played 409 matches.
Representative football came in 1990 with Fittler making his first appearances for NSW. Fittler led the Roosters to the 2002 premiership and grand final appearances in 2003 and 2004, and also led NSW 14 times, winning eight matches. He captained Australia in 20 Tests for 17 victories.
Brad also coached the Lebanon National Rugby League Team to the quarter-finals at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
